Top-seeded South Carolina triumphed over No. 2 Connecticut on Sunday, claiming the national title with a dominant 64-49 win in the NCAA women’s tournament final in Minneapolis.

It’s the second national championship for Gamecocks Coach Dawn Staley, who also led South Carolina to the title in 2017. The Huskies lost for the first time in 12 national championship game appearances.

The Gamecocks raced out to an early lead in the first half, and behind a career-high 26 points from Destanni Henderson, pulled away in the second half for the win.
